When someone hurts us, we hope for, and maybe even expect, an apology. We expect the offending party to seek forgiveness from us. But what about when we hurt someone? We aren't so quick to respond, are we? When we hurt someone; when we have sinned against someone, we must initiate forgiveness. That is, we must go to the one we have hurt and say, "I am sorry I hurt you; will you please forgive me?" Much easier said than done; but necessary for God to work in our lives and the lives of those we have hurt.
